Nominations for DPAC Executives

Each member of the DPAC Executive plays a vital role in supporting public education, engaging parents, and advocating for students.

A DPAC Executive typically has prior experience working at DPAC as an active volunteer in one of our Working Groups. We value diverse lived experiences and welcome parents from all backgrounds and school communities.

However, the following skills and qualities are helpful:

  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Active listening and respectful communication
  • Experience with PACs, school communities, or advocacy
  • Comfort with email, documents, and digital tools (Google Workspace, etc.)
  • Ability to listen to others’ perspectives, balance diverse perspectives and stay focused on solutions

Executives are expected to:

  • Attend monthly Executive and General meetings
  • Liaise with PACs and parent communities to bring forward their concerns and ideas
  • Participate in working groups, committees, and district consultations
  • Represent DPAC on Vancouver School Board (VSB) Committees
  • Support parent engagement and communication strategies
  • Uphold DPAC’s Code of Conduct and represent DPAC with professionalism and respect

Note: Serving on the Executive is a significant time commitment. While roles vary in workload, members should be prepared to attend meetings regularly, respond to communications in a timely manner, and contribute to projects between meetings.

If you are interested in serving as an Executive, you must be nominated by your Parent Advisory Council. The Nomination form is here.

The due date for Nominations to be submitted our the Annual General Meeting is 24 hours prior to the Annual General Meeting date and time.

If you have any questions about the nomination process, or if you want more information about becoming an Executive, please contact the Vancouver DPAC officers here.
