Letters of Support – Mandate AEDs in Schools

*****

Dear DPAC Parents,

I am submitting this article to sincerely ask for you to provide Letters of Support to mandate AEDs in Vancouver Schools.

Last year a Gr. 9 student passed away suddenly due to cardiac arrest at Point Grey Secondary. This has been one of the many incidents over the years but despite this, the Vancouver School Board is the last major school board in BC to not provide any funding for AEDs in schools. In fact, they have argued for many years against the efficacy and need of AEDs despite it increasing the chance of survival by upwards of 90% in emergency situations. We believe the lives of our children are more important than the minimal cost of implementation, especially since every other school board have already committed funding.

The Students for AEDs project will be presenting at the VSB public delegation on November 18th and we are asking for your help. Please submit a personal letter of support to info.studentsforaeds@gmail.com and help spread the word. This has been an ongoing battle and the more students, parents, teachers we can have providing a letter, the stronger our case would be.
