Advocating for a Universal Healthy School Food Program
A Call for Action by March 15th!
The Vancouver DPAC’s Food Framework Working Group is joining forces with the BC Chapter of the Coalition for Healthy School Food (BC-CHSF) to champion a universal healthy school food program. This important initiative aims to ensure that all students have access to nutritious meals, promoting health and well-being across our school communities.
To support this cause, below are letter templates that parents and PACs can use to advocate for the expansion of school food programs in their local areas. Just paste the appropriate template into your email, edit as you’d like, sign it with your typed name (or your PAC’s name), and send it to premier@gov.bc.ca, and cc: ecc.minister@gov.bc.ca:
The primary goal is to encourage the signing of an agreement with the National School Food Program, which is on track to be implemented in BC. To make this vision a reality, we need to gather as much grassroot support as possible before the March 15, 2025 deadline.
Together, our voices can make the creation of healthy, sustainable, and accessible school food programs across BC a reality, ensuring that the nutritional needs of our children and communities are met. Let’s unite in this effort to make a positive impact on the future of our students!
Thank you,
DPAC Food Framework Working Group
